Job Overview
The Relationship Manager, Business Banking, will acquire and manage SMEs with annual turnovers up to USD 100 million (NGN 150 billion), drive trade finance growth, and deepen client relationships using Standard Chartered Bank’s global capabilities. The role also ensures seamless delivery of banking solutions, promotes cross-selling of SME products, and enhances customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Client Acquisition & Portfolio Management
- Identify and acquire SME and Trade clients with deposit potential.
- Onboard new SME clients and manage a growing portfolio.
- Focus on cash-rich sectors such as Trade, Maritime, Oil & Gas, IT, NGO, Health, Schools, and General Commerce.
- Grow trade finance and deposit book through structured relationship strategies.
- Activate and educate NTB clients on remote banking channels including online, POS, Client Centre, and ATMs.
Product Delivery & Service
- Promote SME products including Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, Bills for Collection, Import/Export finance, and structured trade solutions.
- Work closely with Trade Operations and Treasury teams to deliver seamless service.
- Drive customer engagement and cross-selling for SMEs.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Provide weekly call reports, share minutes of meetings, and track client engagement.
- Monitor portfolio performance, risk, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide feedback to senior management on market trends and client needs.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to Bank policies and SME operating instructions.
- Remain vigilant to the risk of money laundering and follow “Know Your Customer” principles.
- Uphold exemplary conduct according to the Group’s Code of Conduct and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Good first degree or equivalent professional qualifications.
- Minimum of 8 years post-graduate experience in banking.
- Strong knowledge of SME products and trade finance instruments.
- Experience in managing SME portfolios and deepening client relationships.
- Understanding of global trade regulations and compliance standards.
