Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor tax correspondence to ensure timely responses to regulatory authorities.
  • Coordinate the annual application and procurement of Tax Clearance Certificates for all company entities.
  • Prepare draft responses to tax queries, notices, assessments, and communications from tax regulators.
  • Ensure VAT returns are accurately prepared and filed before statutory deadlines.
  • Receive, document, and maintain records of all tax-related correspondence.
  • Process payments relating to monthly tax obligations, assessments, and undisputed tax liabilities.
  • Review and validate withholding tax credit notes associated with customer transactions.
  • Analyze withholding tax reports across business units and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Generate monthly VAT reports and reconcile related ledgers for reporting purposes.
  • Prepare and submit federal and state withholding tax returns while ensuring accurate jurisdictional allocation.
  • Provide support for tax compliance activities in regional operations, including tax audits and refund claims.
  • Develop tax forecasts, financial analyses, budgeting reports, and strategic tax planning presentations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or CITN is required.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax accounting practices.
  • Hands-on experience using SAP for tax reporting, reconciliations, compliance monitoring, and financial analysis.
  • Minimum of 4–5 years of relevant experience, preferably within an FMCG company or multinational organization.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations, including Companies Income Tax (CIT), Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax (WHT), PAYE, Transfer Pricing, and other statutory requirements.
