Role Overview

The BBC Igbo Service is seeking a skilled and creative Video Journalist to join its dynamic newsroom team. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, developing, filming, editing, and producing engaging multimedia content for news, current affairs, and feature programming.

This role requires an individual who can independently create high-quality video stories and adapt content for distribution across multiple digital and broadcast platforms.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and pitch compelling story ideas relevant to Igbo-speaking audiences.
  • Research, write, film, edit, and produce video reports in both spoken and written Igbo.
  • Create engaging multimedia content for social media, websites, and other BBC platforms.
  • Identify emerging stories and trends that may be of interest to local and international audiences.
  • Independently shoot and edit video packages while maintaining BBC editorial standards.
  • Work collaboratively with newsroom colleagues to deliver accurate and timely content.
  • Utilize visual storytelling techniques, including graphics, audio, and video elements, to enhance audience engagement.
  • Adapt content to suit the requirements of different platforms and audience segments.

Requirements and Qualifications
