As part of its operations in Nigeria, WTS Energy is currently seeking a qualified professional to fill a key role in document control and crew certification management.

Job Title: Document Controller

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers State

Position Summary

The Document Controller will play a critical role in managing crew certification, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining accurate documentation for offshore and maritime operations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced, international environment.

Key Responsibilities

Crew Certification Management

  • Maintain and update certification records for offshore and vessel personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with international maritime certification standards.
  • Track and manage expiry dates for all certifications and medicals.
  • Coordinate training, renewals, and revalidation of certifications.

Document Control & Compliance

  • Maintain a centralized and secure document management system.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime and regulatory standards.
  • Manage document version control, storage, and accessibility.
  • Generate reports on certification status and upcoming expirations.

Audit & Inspection Support

  • Prepare documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure all records are accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
  • Support inspections by regulatory and classification bodies.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Collaborate with HR, operations, and crew management teams.
  • Liaise with training providers and certification authorities.
  • Support logistics for crew mobilization and transitions.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain company records, contracts, and compliance documents.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate document approvals and distribution across teams.

Requirements

Experience

  • 3–5 years experience in marine/offshore document control or crew administration.
  • Proven experience managing certification and compliance processes.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of maritime certification standards and compliance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian labor laws and offshore crew management practices.
  • Experience working in multinational or international environments.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple records.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
