The organization is currently recruiting a qualified and experienced professional to support community development and governance initiatives in Borno State.

Job Title: Project Officer

Location: Biu, Borno State

Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract

Contract Duration: 6 Months

Work Schedule: Full-time (40 Hours Weekly)

Reports To: Project Coordinator

Start Date: June 1, 2026

Status: National Position

Role Objective

The Project Officer will support local government authorities, community structures, and implementation partners to strengthen inclusive planning, budgeting, and service delivery systems. The role focuses on promoting accountability, participation, social cohesion, and sustainable community development.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Implementation

  • Coordinate and implement project activities at the local government level.
  • Support Community Development Planning (CDP) processes across assigned wards.
  • Monitor project implementation and address operational challenges.
  • Ensure timely delivery of project outputs and objectives.

Governance & Capacity Building

  • Support local authorities in strengthening inclusive governance systems.
  • Facilitate training and capacity-building sessions for development committees.
  • Promote transparency, budget literacy, and citizen participation.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build relationships with government officials, community leaders, CSOs, and partners.
  • Support implementing partners in organizing training and community sessions.
  • Promote collaboration and sustainability across project stakeholders.

Reporting & Learning

  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
  • Participate in project reviews and planning meetings.
  • Document lessons learned and success stories for organizational learning.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Safeguarding

  • Support data collection, verification, and project reporting activities.
  • Ensure integration of gender equality, inclusion, and conflict sensitivity.
  • Apply safeguarding and “Do No Harm” principles across all activities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in community development or governance projects.
  • Experience working with NGOs, CSOs, or international organizations.
  • Strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation methodologies.
  • Good communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of Borno or Adamawa socio-political context is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Salary

Grade Level D1 – Annual Gross Salary: ₦8,016,695.00
