NLNG Ship Management Limited (NSML), a subsidiary of Nigeria LNG Limited, is currently inviting applications from qualified Nigerian seafarers for the position of Trainee Third Officer.

Established in 2008, NSML provides specialized shipping and maritime services including fleet management, terminal operations, maritime consultancy, training, and manning services. Job Description

The Trainee Third Officer will support the deck operations team onboard the vessel and carry out assigned responsibilities under the supervision of the ship’s Master and senior deck officers.

The successful candidate will assist with navigation support, cargo operations, safety procedures, and onboard operational activities while gaining practical maritime experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and understudy the Second Officer in performing daily deck operations.
  • Support cargo handling activities, ballast operations, mooring operations, and ship stability monitoring.
  • Assist in maintaining onboard ship security during assigned watch periods.
  • Ensure the safety of personnel working under assigned supervision.
  • Support the maintenance and upkeep of firefighting equipment and lifesaving appliances onboard.
  • Maintain records relating to onboard training activities as directed by the Master.
  • Where necessary, function as the nominated officer for the GMDSS station, including associated tests and documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining the ship’s recreational and technical library.
  • Carry out lawful duties and additional assignments delegated by the Master.

Eligibility Requirements

Interested candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be Nigerian seafarers.
  • Candidates must possess a minimum OOW Deck Certificate of Competency.
  • The certificate must be issued by recognized maritime agencies or authorities approved internationally.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
