Job Summary
UNDP is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the implementation of the Mayors Challenge project in Benin City. This strategic role involves driving innovation in public service delivery, particularly in health and community development, while building local capacities for long-term sustainability.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and decision-making for the successful delivery of the Mayors Challenge in Benin City
- Collaborate with the City Mayor, focal points, and key stakeholders including Egor Local Government, Ministry of Health, and other agencies
- Oversee procurement processes, develop Terms of Reference, and manage service providers and consultants
- Monitor project activities, ensure timely delivery of outputs, and maintain strong communication with all partners
- Develop knowledge products, policy briefs, and participate in global webinars to share lessons learned
- Build local capacities, prepare sustainability and exit strategies, and support budget revisions when required
- Oversee project monitoring, results tracking, and communication of achievements linked to the SDGs
Requirements
- Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Public Health, Environmental Sciences, International Development, or Social Sciences. A Bachelor’s degree with additional 2 years of experience may be considered
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience (with Master’s) or 7 years (with Bachelor’s), including at least 2 years managing health-related, environmental, or international development programmes
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Proficiency in MS Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience working with local governments is an advantage
- Knowledge of Agenda 2030/SDGs, public health, or gender equality issues is desirable
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of any Nigerian language is an advantage
