WTS Energy is recruiting on behalf of a leading oilfield services company for the position of Head of Procurement. This senior leadership role is critical to supporting rig operations and upstream oil & gas activities in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.

Job Summary

Our client is looking for a strategic and experienced procurement leader to head the procurement and supply chain function. The ideal candidate will drive cost-effective sourcing, manage vendor relationships, negotiate high-value contracts, and ensure seamless supply of goods and services for rig operations and well services. This role demands strong leadership, deep industry knowledge, and a commitment to compliance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company’s procurement strategy aligned with operational goals and project timelines
  • Forecast procurement needs and create detailed plans to support drilling and rig activities
  • Build and maintain a strong network of reliable vendors for drilling equipment, spare parts, logistics, and technical services
  • Lead contract negotiations to secure favourable terms, pricing, and service levels
  • Oversee the full procurement cycle — from requisitions and RFQs to bid evaluation, purchase orders, delivery, and payment
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Logistics teams to optimise supply chain efficiency
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and anti-bribery/anti-corruption standards
  • Identify and mitigate procurement risks including supply delays, cost fluctuations, and vendor dependency
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the procurement team, driving continuous process improvement

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in procurement and supply chain, with at least 5 years in senior leadership within oilfield services or upstream oil & gas
  • Strong knowledge of oil & gas rig operations, well services, Incoterms, and logistics
  • Proven expertise in strategic sourcing, vendor management, contract negotiation, and budget optimisation
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree/MBA, professional certifications (CIPS, CPSM, PMP), and experience in driving procurement process improvements.
