As Flutterwave continues to scale its financial ecosystem, the company is seeking an experienced and strategic Treasurer to lead treasury operations, manage financial risk, and optimize capital and liquidity across its African operations.

Job Summary

The Treasurer will be responsible for developing and executing Flutterwave’s treasury strategy, ensuring strong liquidity management, financial risk control, and capital optimization. This role requires deep expertise in financial markets, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development & Execution

• Develop and implement a comprehensive treasury strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Lead and scale treasury operations, managing cash, investments, and liquidity positions.
• Identify market opportunities to improve profitability while managing financial risk.
• Collaborate with expansion teams on banking partnerships and financial infrastructure.
• Monitor global economic and financial market trends and assess their impact on treasury operations.

Financial Risk Management

• Establish and maintain frameworks for managing FX, interest rate, and liquidity risks.
• Oversee financial exposure monitoring and implement effective hedging strategies.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal control standards.
• Support the implementation of comprehensive financial and liquidity risk policies.

Treasury Operations

• Oversee treasury transactions to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
• Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, and counterparties.
• Optimize treasury systems and processes to enhance operational performance.
• Analyze treasury performance and prepare reports to improve profitability.
• Support bank onboarding, large merchant treasury deals, and concierge merchant services.
• Maintain daily and periodic reporting, including funding and liquidity metrics.
• Contribute to pricing rules for remittance and new financial products.

Capital & Liquidity Optimization

• Develop pricing models to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
• Support capital planning, fundraising, and investment decision-making.
• Evaluate low-risk investment opportunities for excess cash.
• Contribute to capital structure optimization and funding strategies.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate closely with finance, product, technology, and operations teams.
• Build and maintain relationships with banks, regulators, and industry partners.
• Present treasury performance, insights, and strategy updates to senior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Master’s degree or professional certifications (ACT, ACA, CFA, FRM, CTP) are an advantage.
• Minimum of 12 years’ experience in treasury or financial management.
• Strong understanding of international payments, banking systems, crypto, and DeFi platforms.
• Experience within the African fintech ecosystem is highly desirable.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, SQL, and treasury or financial software.
• Excellent analytical, strategic planning, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Authorization to work in the country without sponsorship.
