Job Summary
The Store Inventory Officer will be responsible for managing all store and inventory-related operations, ensuring accurate stock control, safe custody of materials, and uninterrupted support for power plant operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and issue technical store items such as turbine spares, tools, and consumables
- Maintain accurate inventory records including specifications, part numbers, and storage locations
- Support inventory forecasting and maintain optimal stock levels
- Raise purchase requisitions when materials reach reorder levels
- Conduct routine stock counts and physical inventory checks
- Report discrepancies, slow-moving items, and stock shortages
- Obtain delivery acknowledgements and supplier documentation
- Liaise with maintenance, procurement, and internal stakeholders
- Ensure warehouse safety compliance and proper housekeeping
- Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and safety concerns
- Participate in hazard identification and risk assessments
- Ensure proper labeling, preservation, and storage of materials
- Prepare inventory reports and provide updates to management
- Maintain secure filing of all store-related documentation
Education and Experience
- B.Sc or HND in Engineering, Numerical Sciences, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- Professional certification in Store or Inventory Management is an advantage
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical store or warehouse role
- Experience in power plants, oil & gas, manufacturing, or industrial environments preferred
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as IBM Maximo or similar tools
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation spare parts
Skills and Competencies
- Good understanding of technical materials used in power generation
- Strong attention to detail and procedural compliance
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Excel, inventory systems)
- Willingness to learn and work under supervision
