Credit Control Manager

PZ Cussons, a global consumer products organisation with over a century of operational excellence, is seeking a highly skilled Credit Control Manager to join its Nigeria Head Office team. This role is critical to safeguarding receivables integrity, managing credit exposure, and supporting business units through effective credit risk management.

Role Summary

The Credit Control Manager will oversee customer credit management, receivables reconciliation, and debtor risk assessment across all Strategic Business Units (SBUs). The role involves close collaboration with sales teams, intercompany stakeholders, and export functions to ensure timely collections, accurate reporting, and strong balance sheet integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and reconcile customer balance discrepancies to ensure accurate account status.
  • Conduct credit assessments and approve credit release in line with company policy.
  • Provide advance monthly notifications of potential bad or doubtful debts to management.
  • Ensure integrity and accuracy of trade receivables on the balance sheet.
  • Manage credit sales activities in collaboration with the sales team.
  • Oversee tuck-shop, depot transporter, and intercompany accounts.
  • Reconcile export ledgers and ensure prompt settlement of export receivables.
  • Monitor customer credit utilisation to support credit limit reviews.
  • Prepare debtor ageing analysis to support provisioning decisions.
  • Generate weekly and monthly credit control reports for stakeholders.
  • Perform additional credit control functions as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • HND or Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy.
  • Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
  • Strong computer proficiency, especially in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • 3–5 years of relevant credit control or finance experience.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP or Sage.
