Job Title: Accountant II
Location: Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria
Employment Type: Three (3) Years Renewable Contract
Job Summary
The successful candidate will support the institute's treasury and financial operations by managing payment processes, reconciling accounts, facilitating international fund transfers, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records. The role requires strong accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and experience working within a structured financial environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Reconcile accounts payable balances relating to overseas suppliers and creditors.
- Maintain accurate prepayment schedules and supporting documentation for headquarters and field stations.
- Prepare and process imprest reimbursements for IITA stations and affiliated entities.
- Coordinate international fund transfers through designated foreign banking platforms.
- Respond to inquiries regarding foreign payments and banking transactions.
- Perform regular reconciliation of clearing accounts and ensure proper treatment of bank charges.
- Provide backup support for treasury operations during the absence of the Assistant Treasury Manager or Cashier.
- Process international payments using Oracle Accounts Payable (AP) modules.
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with internal financial procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
- B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- At least three (3) years of relevant professional experience in a similar accounting role within a structured organization.
- Professional certification such as ACA or ACCA will be an added advantage.
Required Competencies
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Practical knowledge and hands-on experience using Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS).
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- High level of integrity, reliability, and accountability.
- Experience using international banking and payment platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a results-driven approach.
