Role Summary

The Store Manager – Receiving is responsible for managing all inbound materials activities to ensure safe, timely, and accurate receipt, inspection, and documentation. This role ensures compliance with Dangote Cement policies, HSE standards, and ERP/WMS procedures while supervising a team of receiving staff.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily receiving operations including offloading, inspection, weighing, and acceptance of materials.
  • Verify deliveries against purchase orders, packing lists, and delivery notes for accuracy and quality.
  • Ensure safe use of material handling equipment and report any defects promptly.
  • Coordinate inbound vehicle scheduling with Logistics to minimize congestion and demurrage.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure receiving bay and documentation filing system.
  • Support cycle counts and inventory audits; provide accurate receiving records and reconciliation reports.
  • Monitor supplier performance for accuracy and timeliness; provide feedback to Procurement.
  • Identify and manage non-conformances, shortages, overages, and damaged goods in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Ensure accurate recording of receipts in ERP/WMS and prepare GRNs (Goods Received Notes) for handover.
  • Manage the quarantine area for suspect or damaged materials and ensure proper disposal or return procedures.
  • Supervise receiving staff: rostering, training, performance management, and disciplinary actions.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Percentage of deliveries received without discrepancies.
  • Timeliness of GRN issuance (% on-time).
  • Number of damaged/short deliveries per month.
  • Average time to process a receipt from arrival to ERP entry.
  • Number of reported safety incidents in the receiving area (target: zero).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc. / HND) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Purchasing, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in warehouse/stores receiving operations in heavy industry, manufacturing, or cement sector; at least 2 years in a supervisory role preferred.
  • Proficient with ERP/WMS systems; SAP or Oracle experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.
  • Leadership and people management skills.
  • Good interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple inbound activities.
  • HSE awareness with practical application of safety rules.
  • Basic technical understanding of material specifications and handling.
