Role Summary
The Markets Business Manager plays a critical role in maintaining a strong control framework across various asset classes within the Markets organization. The role focuses on enabling business expansion while ensuring strict adherence to regulatory and operational controls.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, control teams, and senior management to support strategic initiatives, regulatory engagements, and operational efficiency within the Markets business.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide updates on financial performance, opportunities, risk exposures, and control-related matters.
- Support the implementation of new business initiatives, product expansion, and technology-driven improvements.
- Create meaningful metrics and reports for management and stakeholders across risk areas.
- Communicate business and product knowledge to internal teams and support functions.
- Coordinate communication between business units and operational support teams.
- Develop prioritization strategies to manage multiple high-pressure tasks effectively.
- Support internal and external regulatory examinations and audits.
- Execute control framework initiatives including Manager’s Control Assessment testing.
- Monitor operational loss processes and coordinate corrective actions.
- Build strong relationships with product teams, control units, and support functions.
- Coordinate closely with desk heads and cross-functional teams to align with business strategy.
- Identify process improvements and implement corrective actions to strengthen control systems.
- Prepare meeting materials, record accurate meeting minutes, and track follow-up actions.
- Support business administration tasks including strategic presentations and reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Experience or exposure to financial markets products is an added advantage.
- Good understanding of financial markets regulations and compliance frameworks.
- Mandatory experience across at least three major banking operational areas.
- Minimum of 15 years post-graduation professional experience.
- At least 10 years experience in the banking industry.
- Minimum of 2 years experience at Assistant General Manager level.
- Experience working within financial markets or business support functions.
